Why would God tell someone to run for president and then start giving that person migraines?  He’s so crazy!  But this is the same God who thought it would be hilarious to punk a guy by zapping a free baby into his virgin wife’s vagina, so we know he’s a bit of a jokester.  Man.  Mysterious ways indeed!

We Want the Folk

Over the next few weeks, Anthony and I will be making the transformation into a folk duo, soon to be known as MotherFolker.  Our first album “Folk You!” will be in stores August 2011 and features groovin’ hits such as “We Want to Folk You Up,” “Folk the Police,” and “Papa’s Got a Brand New Dulcimer.”

There is something to be said…

I came back to the “real world” on Monday night and I still don’t feel like I’m really here.  Bonnaroo is another world, another planet, another plane of existence entirely.  It’s a loving, sharing, and ever-growing society and it’s immensely inspiring.  Nowhere else on earth have I witnessed such true unity.  EVERYONE was willing to lend a helping hand or word of advice, simply because we are all humans and we all love and we all just want to have a good time and listen to some music.  No one expected anything in return, although good deeds seemed to have lovely repercussions in the end. I gave a sunburned girl some aloe on Saturday, then on Sunday afternoon a guy from the same camp threw us a few grams of some dank blueberry for SUPER cheap because I was “the aloe girl.”

There is something to be said for strangers helping strangers, for the genuine love that was being passed around, both verbally and physically.  Certainly, the weed and psychedelics floating around helped to induce that lovey-dovey state of mind.  But maybe that’s what it’s going takes for us to realize that we are all one….we live in a nation hooked on prescription meds and quick-fixes so maybe this is exactly what we need.  Nine times out of ten, the people who are killed by the drugs they ingest are taking prescription meds, the ones prescribed on a daily basis by medical doctors.  Yet drugs like cid and ganja are made illegal and demonized…and for what purpose?  I can’t come up with a single valid reason.  Please let me know if you think of one.  In my opinion, if you’re going to take to drugs to deal with depression, anxiety, or other mental ailments, you might as well take the ones that aren’t habit-forming and don’t have negative side-effects.  Seems logical, right?

In truth, the man (giant corporations) behind the curtain that is our government would not benefit financially from the legalization of drugs, such as cannabis.  The effects of these drugs typically include a sense of peace, relaxation, and clarity; all of these qualities hinder a government’s ability to control the overall state of mind of it’s population.  A people who are in a constant state of fear and anxiety, distracted by the desire for wealth and material things, is a population that is easily controlled.

People of America, you are taking all the wrong drugs.

BONNAROOOOOO

I’m going to Bonnaroo… I’m going to BONNAROO… I’M GOING TO BONNAROOOOOO!!!

Ok, I think I got that out of my system, at least long enough to finish this blog.

I have been informed by my most revered gay friend that he has happened upon TWO FREE WRISTBANDS for Bonnaroo and he wants me to come with him.  Time to dust off the ole sequined butterfly top.  Also, I have wanted to see The Strokes since puberty set in so I’m quite certain I will revert back to the emotional state of fourteen year-old Madeline as soon as I see Julian.  This may include, but is not limited to: screaming, crying, gagging, vomiting, trembling, and/or swooning.

This appears to be the start of an epic summer, stories to follow.

The Psychology of Revenge: Why We Should Stop Celebrating Osama Bin Laden's Death

The way I see it, revenge is a temporary satisfaction that tends to perpetuate violence and hate. Revenge doesn’t actually solve the initial problem, it just provides the revenger with momentary relief.  Anyway, this article sums it up pretty well.  read it and pass it on!!
